One person was injured in a high school shooting in Cincinnati, prompting a brief lockdown Monday morning, police said. Authorities and emergency crews arrived at La Salle High School before 9:15 a.m., and the victim was taken to the hospital, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said. At that point, officials said the threat at the school was no longer active. Authorities said they've confirmed the victim's identity but wouldn't immediately release it to the public. SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department received a donation Thursday that will help save the lives of animals caught in fires. The Emma Zen Foundation gave the department 60 pet oxygen masks to carry on the fire apparatus. The masks are specially designed for dogs, cats, birds and other household-size pets. Without them, firefighters have to use human masks, which don't work as well. "The rubber seal on the front of them is actually closing the jowls of the animal, allowing the oxygen to get directly into the nostrils," Jo Chiapuzio explained. The 60 masks cost $4,500. The money came from a fundraiser at a pet-friendly hotel in Utah. School buses at Sandburg High School in Orland Park were evacuated Friday afternoon as students made their way home at the end of the school day when a student found a replica grenade on the floor of a bus, police said. Orland Park police responded about 3:10 p.m. and with assistance of the Cook County Sheriff's Bomb Squad, they determined the item was a replica grenade and did not pose any threat, police said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, said Cmdr. John Keating, noting that officers interviewed students who were also on the bus where the grenade was found and will be working with district officials. Money generated will directly affect patients of Covenant Hospice in Bay and Gulf County. Not only does Covenant Hospice provide compassionate palliative care to their patients, the organization also educate families on end-of-life care, provide chaplains that make house visits, volunteer services, bereavement services, and indigent care.
