'NCIS' finale, 'The Voice' Are Ratings Standouts on Tuesday - Variety



'NCIS' wrapped its 10th season a winner Tuesday, as CBS nearly caught NBC for the night's lead among young adults and won in other categories. 'The Voice' was the evening's top draw in the 18-49 demo despite dipping week to week.

According to preliminary national estimates, 'NCIS' averaged a strong 3.2 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 and 18.2 million viewers overall '� dominating its timeslot and ruling as Tuesday's No. 1 program in adults 25-54 (4.7/13). It also was easily the night's most-watched program overall, beating the combined ABC-NBC-Fox reality show competition (16 million).

Also up a bit week to week was 'NCIS: Los Angeles' (2.5/7 in 18-49, 13.4 million viewers overall), which was second to 'The Voice' in key demos and dominant in total viewers. And at 10, the canceled rookie drama 'Golden Boy' did a 1.2/4 in 18-49 and 7.1 million viewers overall.

At NBC, a 'Voice' recap show at 8 p.m. (2.0/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) was followed by an original hour at 9 (3.4/10 in 18-49, 10.2 million viewers overall) that was down from last week's 3.7 in the demo but comfortably led its hour. And at 10, 'Grimm' won its hour (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.5�million viewers overall), down a tick from last week.

Fox's 'So You Think You Can Dance' opened OK (1.9/6 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall), especially opposite two other broadcast reality contests, but it was down 14% from its opening hour of last year (when it premiered outside of the television season). It was followed by the season finales of 'New Girl' (2.1/6 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) and 'New Girl' (1.3/4 in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall), which matched last week's demo delivery and edged up in total viewers.

ABC remained virtually invisible in the night's opening hour, as 'Wipeout' (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) was only a slight improvement over 'Splash.' The 'Dancing With the Stars' results show followed at 9 (1.8/5 in 18-49, 11.6 million viewers overall, up a tick from last week. And at 10, the recently canceled 'Body of Proof' (1.4/4 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall) was flat, placing second in demos and first in total viewers.

CW aired the movie special 'Leap Year' (0.3/1 in 18-49, 0.9 million viewers overall).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: NBC, 2.4/7; CBS, 2.3/7; Fox, 1.8/5; ABC and Univision, 1.4/4; Telemundo, 0.7/2; CW, 0.3/1.

In total viewers: CBS, 12.9 million; ABC, 8.2 million; NBC, 7.4 million; Fox, 4.2 million; Univision, 3.7 million; Telemundo 1.6 million; Cw, 0.9 million.
